
The Loum – Dschang lap was described by experts as one of the most challenging laps of the Cameroon International Cycling Tour because of the 10km long Santchou mountain that Cyclists had to ascend.
Rwandan cyclists reputed for the climbing skills dominated the race especially when they engaged the ascension.
Cameroonian cyclists who were also upbeat about winning a lap upped their game and strived to stay on the break away block.
In the last 5 kilometres of the race Rwandan cyclists maintain the lead and were closely followed by Cyclists of the French Defence Team.
It was a split second victory for French rider, Taillandier Axel who beat
Rwanda’s Manizabayo Eric at the finish line both closing at 3H00’58.
The finish line camera had to be consulted by the race commissioner to confirm the win the French cyclist who came from behind the beat the Rwandan at the final sprint.
Cameroon’s Performance
The efforts by Cameroonian cyclists didn’t produce the expected results.
The first Cameroonian, Tientcheu Michel Boris arrived at the eleventh position and got the prices for best Cameroonian in the lap.
Despite the performance, Cameroon remains amongst the top five cyclists of the race.
Moroccan cyclist, EL KOURAJI Mohcine maintains the Yellow Jersey while
Tientcheu Michel Boris is fourth on the General Classification.
The 7th lap of the Cameroon International Cycling Tour will take place on Saturday, June 10, 2023 from Bagante in the West Region to Bafia in the Centre Region covering a distance of 120.9km.
