As Cameroon observes the International Day for the Elimination of Gender-based Violence this November 25, 2022, statistics indicate that things are getting better especially as more and more people are vocal about Gender-based Violence (GBV).
Speaking at a ceremony to commemorate ths Day and launch the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-based Violence, the Minister of Women Empowerment and the Family, Prof Marie Therese Abena Ondoa lauded the efforts of her Ministry and its partners for the work done this far.
The Minister also acknowledged the work of He for She Ambassadors. They received awards during the occasion.
Minister Marie Therese Abena Ondoa went on to encourage women to denounce GBV. She explained that it is only after denunciation that solutions could come in.
Activism activities will continue for 16 days with a sportswalk scheduled for Saturday, November 26, 2022.
This year’s theme for the International Day for the Elimination of GBV is “UNITE! Activism to End Violence against Women and Girls”. It has been coined at the national level as, “Let us join forces to end violence against women and girls”.
The 16 Days of Activism against Gender-based Violence will end on December 10, 2022 which is International Human Rights Day.
