New CFA francs banknotes have been in circulation in the different CEMAC countries since December 15, 2022, distributed by the Bank of Central African States BEAC.
While some people are in awe and excitement to welcome the new valuable sheets, some are rather skeptical transacting using them.
BEAC produced the new bank notes in the same numerical figures as the previous ones, 500, 1000, 2000, 5000 and 10,000 CFAF notes.
Each bank note has a particular theme like the 500 CFAF not is themes on agriculture and the 10,000 CFAF not is themed on education.
Skepticism looms as people have not yet gained familiarity with the new banknotes and not very sure what they look like and wonder of their authenticity.
Some will rather stick to using old banknotes till they are certain of the new.
Financial experts say although the new bank notes is highly protected, it is not a hundred percent guaranteed that fakes could infiltrate them.
Some Bank Notes Security Features
According to the currency printers, there are few features to look out for to determine the authenticity of a banknote. Amongst them include;
