Cameroon’s Law makers are comparing notes with their counterparts from Italy on the implementation of Decentralization; a system of governance common to both countries.
The experience exchange is taking place at a seminar on Decentralization organised at the National Assembly of Cameroon in Yaounde this Monday April 3, 2023.
Representatives of the ministry of Decentralization and Local Development and Members of the Diplomatic corps accredited to Yaounde from countries that share a common system of governance are attending the seminar.
One of the key speakers at the event is the Italian Ambassador to Cameroon, Filippo Scammacca del Murgo.
He intends to share his country’s experience on the decentralised form of governance with members the National Assembly.

He says the historical facts common to both countries facilitates the exchange experience for growth on both ends.
The Ambassador says the common history of colonisation and multitudes of languages they both share make it easier for him to share experience with Cameroon in a perspective they can learn from.
Italy and Cameroon have had healthy bilateral cooperation since 1960, through missionary activities and NGOs.
The Italian Ambassador to Cameroon reiterates his interest in fostering these ties through diverse activities since he presented his credentials to Cameroon.
Cameroon has since been making efforts to entrusts competencies and means of public action to local authorities to ease governance.
Reason why these Members of Parliament at the National Assembly are brainstorming to contribute to the process.
