It sure was a poor opener for Africa and Senegal in particular at the on-going World Cup but social media kept buzzing about two players…Mane and Mendy.
Senegalese Striker, Sadio Mane is missing this FIFA World Cup in Qatar. This is due to an injury he suffered just before the competition.

The first 80 minutes of Monday’s match were good ones especially on social media as status updates on WhatsApp hailed the Senegalese team.
Then the first goal came in against Senegal and every one cried out “Mendy!”, blaming the goal on the Senegalese Goalkeeper.
Minutes later, a second goal against Senegal and boom…social media went red with attacks on Mendy.
While some called Mendy a mess, others regretted Sadio Mane’s abscence.
From “We miss Mane” to “Mane’s absence is evident”, Mane’s fans lamented online.
When asked why the over-dependence on Sadio Mane, many indicated that apart from being a striker, he has some charisma which gets his teammates going.
Well then…sad beginning for Senegal but hey, the World Cup is already on and so we are bound to “Miss” Mane and why not, “Manage” Mendy.
