‘I’m putting in place an auto-pilot system’
The Government of Cameroon will disburse over FCFA 89 billions for the first phase of the reconstruction of the North West and South West regions for a period of two (2) years.
So far water points , schools, health facilities rebuilt, women’s empowerment centres, and markets have been built, while farms have been rehabilitated. Young boys and girls are being trained on income-generating activities.
The National Coordinator of the Presidential Plan, Motuba Tamajong Obase says the plan currently prioritizes innovative projects.
“I’m putting in place an auto-pilot system in terms of management and development. Some of the projects have been adopted. We are going to get the population involved in the planning, execution monitoring and control of certain aspects of the projects. We want to change the way things are done in these regions. I am emphasizing on innovative initiatives,” Motuba Tamajong Obase said.
The reconstruction plan is a component of the National Development Strategy (NDS) which will last for ten years. The NDS is intended to rebuild the economy of the two affected regions, and reduce the effects of the socio-political crisis on the population.
