The North West Regional Delegation of the Cameroon elections body, ELECAM is prepared for the Senatorial Elections in 2023.
This was revealed by the Chairman of the Electoral Board, Dr Enow Abrams Egbe, at the end of a two-week field trip to the ELECAM North West Regional Headquarters in Bamenda.
The ELECAM Board Chair, in the company of the Board Member for the North West Region, Nga Gasper Thairinyuy undertook the evaluation visit from November 16 to 29, 2022.
The two-week visit centred on evaluating the end of the 2022 revision exercise, setting ground for the start of the revision exercise for 2023 and evaluating the level of preparedness of the Region for the upcoming Senatorial Elections.
After discussing with ELECAM staff in the North West Region, the Board hailed their work and encouraged them to do more as they prepare to begin the revision exercise for 2023 from January.
Dr Enow Abrams Egbe and his team then met stakeholders of the electoral process (political parties and administrative authorities) and evaluated their level of preparedness.
The visiting team also reviewed the state of materials in the region. As concerns the electoral college, the list for Councillors are ready.
The Board went on to inform the stakeholders that electoral materials are available, the staff on the field are ready and polling stations have already been earmarked.
In all, 5,490 women and 5,098 men have been registered on the electoral lists in the North West Region making a total of 10,588 people registered in the region.
With all these on hand, the North West Region is set for the Senatorial Elections in 2023.
