Major roundabouts and road junctions have been decorated with small flags announcing the event. Some business persons have also hung flags bearing the logo of the competition.
On the main roads, the flags that are flying high are those of host country, Cameroon and of Libya, Morocco, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Niger, Togo, Tanzania, Mali, Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda, Guinea, Burkina Faso, Congo, Uganda and Namibia.
The flags have been installed by the Douala City Council that has also installed its own flag in some streets. Besides the flags are giant screens that have been installed in strategic areas where Douala City dwellers can watch the matches live.
The giant screens have been installed at Fan Zones where crowds gather almost every evening since the start of the competition to watch the matches. Makeshift businesses have erupted around the fan zones.
Bar and restaurant owners for the most part have installed giant screens that are permanently tuned to the channels broadcasting the matches.
